FORM

A keyboard you take apart just by scrolling

3D websiteScroll storytellingProduct page

FORM's Vertex 65 is a 65% keyboard milled from a single block of aluminium and sold as a limited run of 500. Premium hardware has one problem online: a photo cannot show why it costs $220.

I designed and built the page around the keyboard in 3D. As you scroll, it comes apart layer by layer: keycaps, switches, plate, foam and case, each paired with one short line about how it feels to type on.

By the time a visitor reaches the reserve button, they have seen every part they are paying for. The page sells the engineering by letting people take it apart.

The full page, recorded from the live site, top to bottom.
FORM Vertex 65 hero: ‘Milled from one block’ beside the assembled aluminium keyboard on warm stone.
Keycaps lifting off the board beside ‘Sixty-eight keys, seated by hand’.
Scroll and the first layer lifts away. Every layer gets one headline and one sentence.
Switches exposed beneath floating keycaps beside ‘It gives, just slightly’.
The copy describes how each layer feels to type on, not just what it is.
The fully disassembled keyboard beside ‘Buy it once. Type for a decade’ and a Reserve $220 button.
By the reserve button, the visitor has seen every part they are paying for.
Up close: the burnt-orange Esc key on the anodised aluminium case, labelled ‘One anodised block’.
After the 3D tour, macro photography takes over for the details.
Anatomy: an exploded view labelled keycaps, switches and plate under ‘Every layer earns its place’.
The anatomy turns the scroll story into a spec sheet you can read at a glance.
Dark sound section: ‘A soft, low thock. And then nothing.’ over a keyboard on a desk at night.
The only dark section on the page, so the sound gets a mood of its own.
Three colourways: Graphite / Ivory, Onyx / Olive and Silver / Slate under ‘Pick the one you won't get bored of’.
Colourways as three calm product cards, nothing more.
Closing section ‘Type on it once. You'll understand.’ with Reserve $220 above a keyboard render.
The close repeats the offer with the price in plain sight.

The decisions that made it work

01

Scroll is the product tour

The disassembly follows the scroll, so the story moves at exactly the reader's pace and nothing plays before they are looking.

02

One line per layer

Every layer gets a headline and a single sentence, such as ‘It gives, just slightly.’ The product does the talking.

03

One colour, on purpose

Warm stone, ivory keycaps and a single burnt-orange key. The product is the only colour on the page.
